A holistic approach to restoring balance to the body, mind, and spirit. On the physical level, restricted tissues are relaxed and lengthened. Neuromuscular Therapy (trigger point) addresses the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction, not just the symptoms. I incorporate mindful touch with energy work and attention to chronic structural patterns to provide long-lasting results. Deep relaxation and centering allow space for healing.
A 2500 year-old practice based on the principles of compassion (metta). Sometimes referred to as ‘yoga for lazy people,’ this massage is done on a mat on the floor with the client fully clothed. Pressure is applied along sen (energy) lines throughout the body in conjunction with mindful passive stretching. Thai bodywork offers a deep unwinding of old patterns, physical and otherwise. See Thai Massage Training for more info.
Based on traditional teachings in Thai medicine, bundles of healing herbs are steamed and applied to the skin (or over clothing) during a massage session to relieve pain, stiffness, inflammation and to stimulate circulation, thus enhancing the bodywork. The compresses are both relaxing and invigorating to the body, mind, and spirit….and, of course, the herbs smell amazing. My compresses typically contain: Prai (Zingiber purpueum rose, sort of like a Thai ginger), Turmeric, Lemongrass, Kaffir Lime, Tamarind, Camphor, & other fragrant, delightful herbs.
